St. George Island Real EstateJust in case you need a first-hand account, our beaches and bays in the St. George Island and Apalachicola area have not gotten any oil - no tar balls, no sheen, no smell, nothing. We have a lot of those orange booms in the waters, and have been prepared for months, but we've not needed it so far. We're fully open for business. Our beaches and bays are gorgeous. 
 And, our part of Florida is different from most beach communities. We don't have high rises, or malls, or theme parks, or 4-lane highways. But we do have a healthy population of sea turtles who nest here every year, and a small-town culture of commercial fishing, personal scale shopping, and wonderful restaurants. In real estate, for buyers (which is my specialty), our market is in the sweet spot of a buyer's market *with* bank foreclosures thrown in for good measure. If you have been waiting for the prices to get right, now is the time to be looking.
