Yes, the Beach is Lovely, but Oh the Bay, the Bay
06/05/14

When people think of an island (like St. George), what comes to mind first is beautiful wide white sand beaches, and St. George definitely has more than its share. But for those of us who live here, the draw of the bay side of the island can be strong. It's not just that it's great fishing (it is) or that it's nice to have boating access (definitely), but there's something about the quiet grassy flats, the fish jumping, and those sunsets...
Our team has developed a nice niche over the years for bayfront buyers, and this year is no different. Of the 7 bayfront properties that have sold so far this year, our buyers bought 3 of them: one down on the East End, with a stunning one-acre street to bay lot and the sweetest house ever, one in the Gulf Beaches, mid-island, with a boat ramp and a dock, and sunsets that set the water on fire every evening, and one in the Plantation on a wooded lot and long and winding dock (I bought this one myself!!). There's something about that bay that calls to you, particularly if you are living here full-time, or planning to make this your full-time home eventually. The rental rates are not as high on the bay, but if you are living here, rentals are the furthest thing from your mind. The prices are excellent, and the selection is really good right now for bayfront properties.
So, if you've been thinking about buying property on St. George, well, yes, the beach is gorgeous, but you might want to take a little time to check out the "other" side - our beautiful bay side!
